This year, every county in California will begin operating a new option for civil courts to be involved in the treatment of people with a serious mental illness: the CARE Act. Hospitals often treat individuals with schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders who are in crisis and are not stabilized in treatment – people who seem to be “falling through the cracks.” This webinar is specifically designed to help hospitals learn about the new CARE Act option for getting these patients into care and housing, including how hospitals can directly refer patients to the CARE Act process.
The webinar will feature Dr. Katherine Warburton, an expert on decriminalizing mental illness, who serves as the Medical Director for the California Department of State Hospitals.
