Later this week CHA member hospitals will receive a notice alerting them to their portion of the Hospital Association COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Activities Grant, which is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR). CHA distributed the state’s first allocation, $4.1 million, in May. The second allocation of $10.7 million will be distributed in mid-August.
Earlier this spring, ASPR awarded $50 million to state hospital associations and last month added an additional $100 million.
For this second grant, CHA — with the approval of the board officers — will target most of the funds toward the hospitals most impacted by COVID-19 patients. All CHA member hospitals will receive a small grant based on licensed beds. About 25% of CHA member hospitals will receive an additional sum recognizing the relatively higher number of COVID-19 patients they cared for from April 10 to July 8.
Additional details and specific award amounts will be sent soon. CHA’s goal is to make this as simple as possible and will assist in any way we can. Please contact Jen Newman with questions about the compliance forms or Anne O’Rourke with questions about the grant in general.
