Scarce resources made it difficult for Angelfrey Armas Ruiz, MD, to provide adequate care to patients in his native Cuba. During a humanitarian mission in Venezuela, Armas Ruiz took an incredible risk by visiting the U.S. embassy to apply for asylum.
Now he’s practicing family medicine at Montage Medical Group’s Ryan Ranch location and says his Latin American heritage is invaluable to the care he provides. After more than a decade of setbacks, Armas Ruiz is proud of how far he has come.
