RESOURCES

BACKGROUND

CHA is sponsoring SB 1423, which would establish a critical access hospital (CAH) technical advisory group at the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to evaluate and make recommendations on CAHs’ financial stability under current Medi-Cal reimbursement methodologies. The bill would require DHCS to submit a report to the Legislature with recommendations for improving the financial stability of CAHs. It is important that the chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee hears from hospitals about the vital need to protect health care services delivered by CAHs. This work is part of CHA’s broader effort to preserve access to health care in rural communities; for more details, visit the CHA website.
