The Medical Board of California (MBC) has updated its required “Notice to Consumers” signage — effective Jan. 1 — for physicians, research psychoanalysts, licensed midwives, and polysomnographic technologists, technicians, and trainees.
For practitioners working in hospitals or clinics, the MBC requires a sign be posted in an area visible to patients, in at least 38-point Arial font, with specified language and a QR code that leads to the MBC’s website. Sample signs are available in many languages on the MBC website. The board has not specified which languages the signs must be posted in; hospitals should comply with other applicable laws concerning limited English proficient patients and translation services.
