The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a statement regarding the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) V4.0 and compliance with the Quality Reporting Program.
The updated IRF-PAI was implemented on Oct. 1, 2022, and includes several new standardized patient assessment data elements. CMS has provided this communication to address concerns brought forth by the IRF provider community. CMS is also publishing a Q&A to assist providers in addressing questions they may have about next steps in regards to this topic.
