As part of its Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) Learning Community, the Hospital Quality Institute will host a webinar on Aug. 19 from noon to 1 p.m. (PT) to discuss the impact of child welfare involvement on both parent and infant mental health, the role that hospital staff plays in the process of child abuse reporting during the perinatal period, and steps to file a child abuse report as a mandated reporter.
The presenters are Patrisha Taylor, PsyD, LMFT, assistant regional administrator with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and Anna King, LCSW, PMH-C, clinical training specialist with Maternal Mental Health NOW!
Registration is free and available via Zoom as well as through the program website.
PMH Learning Community is HQI’s two-year program aimed at strengthening approaches to mental health during the perinatal period. To check if your hospital is enrolled, click on the “Participating Hospitals” tab on the program website. Hospitals can join by clicking the “Enroll” tab.
Participation helps hospitals comply with Assembly Bill 3032 (Frazier), which requires educating perinatal employees about maternal mental health conditions. It also requires hospitals to inform postpartum women and families about the signs and symptoms of maternal mental health disorders, post-hospital treatment options, and community resources.
