2025 HR Conference Wraps, Planning for 2026 Begins

What’s happening: On Feb. 19-20, more than 100 human resources (HR) professionals gathered in Long Beach for the 2025 HR Conference — where experts offered sage advice, answered questions, and provided best practices on recruitment and retention, artificial intelligence (AI), and more.

What else to know: Co-hosted by CHA and the Hospital Association of Southern California, this was the first in-person HR Conference since 2019 — and planning for the 2026 HR Conference has already begun.

Some of the key takeaways from this year’s conference include:

  • When recruiting employees, hospitals may want to consider creating a short video of a current employee describing their job and attaching it to the job description. Then, when it’s time to recruit for that position, candidates may view the video, hearing from an employee what it’s like to work at the organization.
  • It’s important for hospitals to understand and articulate their Employee Value Proposition — a statement used to attract and retain top talent by detailing the values and benefits an organization offers to its employees.
  • It’s crucial to maintain accurate timekeeping records and ensure employees are following the meal and rest break rules.
  • AI is increasingly being used in health care, so hospitals should include in their employee handbook a section addressing AI usage and expectations.

As for next year’s event, planning has already started; stay tuned for more information.
