Words Are Never Enough

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

Each year at this time, we as a nation take a collective pause to reflect on that for which we are thankful.

At many dinner tables this week, some of the words may sound familiar: health; family; job; friends.

And while the word “hospital” may not emerge, we know how integral your organization and the people who dedicate themselves to caring and curing are to Californians’ gratitude for health, family, jobs, and friends.

The life-changing and life-saving moments you create are too numerous to count, and on this holiday of appreciation, I want to thank all of you. Thank you for your leadership. Thank you for your resourcefulness. Thank you for your resilience.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch Adam’s story and his fight against Guillain-Barré Syndrome. His words at the end of the piece, “Dad is here to stay,” exemplify the miracles that happen in hospitals every day — keeping hope alive, helping those in need, and keeping families together.

Please know, this year, how much the work you do means to the people of California.

Have a happy, healthy, and restful holiday filled with the people and things that bring you gratitude and joy.
