To implement the state public health officer order released July 26, hospitals and health systems may need to add testing for unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated workers. The state of California has made available several resources to assist with creating additional testing capacity.
For immediate testing needs, facilities should contact their Medical Health Operational Area Coordinator for items available in the state stockpile. Currently, there are swabs, viral test media, and Abbott BinaxNOW test kits available. In addition, the COVID–19 Testing Task Force website has a list of over 200 laboratories with testing capacity and a comprehensive section to assist in developing or expanding testing sites.
