Responding to a Sept. 17 CHA Advocacy Alert, hospital leaders have sent numerous letters to the Governor urging him to sign the hospital fee bill, AB 1383 (Jones, D-Sacramento/Alquist. D-Santa Clara), which has been enrolled and delivered to the Governor for his consideration.

There is still time to write Gov. Schwarzenegger and urge him to sign AB 1383, which would increase Medi-Cal payments to hospitals through increased federal funding of up to $6.8 billion through Dec. 31, 2010.

The Governor has until Oct. 11 to act on AB 1383 and all remaining legislation. For more information on AB 1383, refer to the attached CHA Advocacy Alert and sample letter.

When a bill passes both houses of the Legislature, it is ordered enrolled. During enrollment, the bill is proofread for accuracy and then delivered to the Governor. AB 1383 now contains the complete text of the bill with the dates of passage certified by the secretary of the Senate and chief clerk of the Assembly. In addition, upon enrollment, a resolution is filed directly with the secretary of state. Contact: Anne McLeod, (916) 552-7536, amcleod@calhospital.org; C.
