Today, CHA submitted comments on the Medicaid fiscal accountability proposed rule issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). CHA thanks members for their input, which helped inform our comments, and for taking time to submit individual comment letters. There is still time to submit letters, which must be received by 2 p.m. (PT) tomorrow.
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has issued a Request for Applications for an administrator to oversee elements of the California Hub & Spoke System, otherwise known as the Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Project. Applications are due June 14 at 4 p.m. (PT).
The California Hospital Association is the statewide leader representing the interests of hospitals, health systems, and other health care providers in California. CHA includes nearly 400 hospital members and provides members with state and federal representation and advocacy in the legislative and regulatory arenas.
CHA has prepared a template letter for members to use in responding to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Medicaid fiscal accountability proposed rule. If finalized, the policies outlined in the proposed rule would significantly change Medicaid financing, resulting in decreased coverage and access to care for Medi-Cal beneficiaries.
CHA has issued its draft comments on the Medicaid fiscal accountability regulation proposed rule, which would revise the Medicaid program. Included in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) proposal are changes to the rules for states to finance their non-federal share of Medicaid costs and calculate their associated upper payment limit, as well as new reporting requirements.
In a recent comment letter, CHA commended the National Quality Forum (NQF) on improvements to its draft standards for serious reportable events; however, CHA also expressed serious concerns about the lack of specificity of some of the measure definitions.
The NQF report is updated every four years and sets national standards for data collection and public reporting of serious reportable events.
After reviewing comments, NQF will release a revised report before the end of January, and NQF members, including CHA, will vote on the report.
