RNs, LVNs, CNAs, Paramedics, Additional Staff Available to Impacted Hospitals

For CNOs, COOs, human resources staff, disaster preparedness staff

The state has medical surge personnel in the staging pool who it would like to allocate to impacted facilities.

These facilities include hospitals experiencing significant ambulance patient offload times, a high number of emergency department-boarded patients, high COVID-19 burden, or other significant impacts.

Hospitals experiencing any of these scenarios are encouraged to submit resource requests for staffing to their Medical Health Operational Area Coordinator (MHOAC) as soon as possible.

If a hospital has financial considerations, the state will evaluate on a case-by-case basis state-funded support for the staff. Otherwise, the hospital will be responsible for reimbursing the state through a memorandum of understanding.

The available staffing support includes:

  • Registered nurses (emergency department, intensive care unit, med/surg, med/surg and telemetry, step-down unit)
  • Licensed vocational nurses
  • Certified nursing assistants
  • Paramedics
  • Pharmacy technicians
  • Phlebotomists
  • Registered respiratory therapists

For any additional questions, hospitals should contact their MHOAC.
