Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey will open CHA’s day-long conference, Caring for Our Patients Who Are Homeless Summit, Dec. 11 at the Riverside Convention Center.

In 2017, Riverside city officials — including Mayor Bailey — restructured city hall to create an Office of Homeless Solutions, in order to coordinate city efforts and put the issue front and center.

The summit is intended to help hospitals develop and refine ways to help address the complex needs of people experiencing homelessness. Throughout the day-long event, leading industry experts will discuss:

  • Perception vs. reality in homelessness
  • Innovative strategies that curb the growth in homelessness
  • Steps to break the generational cycle of homelessness
  • Replicable programs that connect patients to community partners
