CHA urges member hospitals and health systems to commit to the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) voluntary patient billing guidelines.
The guidelines are largely adapted from what is already required in federal law for tax-exempt hospitals and very similar to state law.
CHA thanks those who have already signed the pledge; those who have not are encouraged to add their hospital to the list of those who support by today, March 31. In the coming months, AHA plans to publish the list of hospitals that have affirmed their commitment.
To affirm, hospitals must complete a survey available via a hospital-specific link that was first sent to the hospital’s primary AHA contact (typically the CEO) on Oct. 28, 2021. To obtain your hospital-specific survey link, please contact Nicole Hoffman at nhoffman@calhospital.org. System hospitals must respond to a system-specific link — CHA will work with AHA to obtain this link as needed.
