DHCS Provides Guidance on Fee-For-Service Transition

What’s happening:  The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has published new resources to support Medi-Cal members, providers, and partners ahead of the Jan. 1, 2027, transition of members with unsatisfactory immigration status from managed care to fee-for-service. 

Hospitals Invited to Apply for AHA’s Dick Davidson NOVA Award

What’s happening: The American Hospital Association (AHA) is accepting applications for the 2027 Dick Davidson NOVA Award, which recognizes hospital and health system programs that demonstrate outstanding collaboration with community partners to improve health outcomes and community well-being. The application period is open through Oct. 8.  

Impact Analyses Available for Five Final Rules 

What’s happening: CHA DataSuite has issued hospital-specific analyses of five final rules for federal fiscal year (FFY) 2027: the inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS), long-term-care hospital (LTCH) prospective payment system (PPS), inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) PPS, inpatient psychiatric facility (IPF) PPS, and skilled-nursing facility (SNF) PPS.  

CHA Urges CMS to Protect 340B in OPPS Proposed Rule

What’s happening: CHA has submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on the calendar year 2027 outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) proposed rule, which includes harmful policies related to the 340B Drug Pricing Program. 

State Budget Includes Key Health Care Provisions

What’s happening: Earlier this week, the Senate, Assembly, and governor reached agreement on the revised 2026-27 state budget. The Senate and Assembly then approved trailer bill measures — including Assembly Bill (AB) /Senate Bill (SB) 173 and AB/SB 113, which relate to health care.
