HRSA Announces Funding for COVID-19 Uninsured Program Reimbursements
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has announced that it will devote $4.8 billion from the American Rescue Plan to support the HRSA COVID-19 Uninsured Program.
The HRSA COVID-19 Uninsured Program provides reimbursements to eligible providers for claims attributed to COVID-19 testing, treatment, or vaccination for uninsured individuals. Additional information about the program is available on the HRSA website.

Annual Increase in L.A.’s Minimum Wage Takes Effect July 1; Hospitals Need to Update Labor Law Posters
In 2016, the city of Los Angeles enacted an annual, phased-in minimum wage increase that was modeled after the state’s minimum wage law. The city’s minimum wage is separate and higher than the state minimum wage. On July 1, the minimum wage in the city of Los Angeles will increase to $15 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees.
CMS to Reweight 2020 MIPS Cost Performance Category
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will reweight the cost performance category for the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) from 15% to 0% for the 2020 performance period, due to the impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

HHS Announces Additional Block Grants to Address Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Crisis
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is distributing $3 billion in American Rescue Plan funding. The Community Mental Health Services Block Grant (MHBG) program and Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SABG) program will disperse $1.5 billion each to states and territories.
Pediatric Patients with Mental Health Conditions in EDs During Pandemic More Likely to Require Admission
New research from JAMA has found that pediatric emergency department patients with mental health conditions have been more likely to require admission and have had longer admissions since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ACEs Aware Initiative Launches State of CAre Provider Engagement Campaign
