Wanted to send a personal note to volunteers throughout California about Joan Cardellino, CAVS, who has decided to pursue opportunities outside of the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (CAHHS). Her last day with us was November 13. As many of you know, Joan is a life-long servant leader and, for more than 13 years, directed her passion toward elevating the role of volunteers in California’s hospitals. We thank Joan for all she has contributed to volunteer services, and wish her the best.
We intend to build on and continue to strengthen California hospitals’ volunteer programs – while not missing a beat! In the interim, if you need anything from the CAHHS Volunteer Services department, please reach out to Melanie Shanley at mshanley@calhospital.org.
With change comes the opportunity to consider new approaches and ideas, and we’ll be working with our Committee on Volunteer Services leaders as we look to the future. I look forward to being personally involved in those discussions. In the meantime, I encourage you to mark your calendar for the annual California Hospital Volunteer Leadership Conference scheduled for February 11-13, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Sacramento, and look forward to seeing you there.
We are so grateful for what you as volunteers do every day in service to the patients whose lives we have the privilege to touch.
Happy Thanksgiving!
