Hospital Leaders Discuss Financial Challenges with Legislators on Capitol Hill

What’s happening: Last week, California hospital and health system leaders convened in Washington, D.C. for the American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Membership Meeting.

What else to know: Hospital and health system leaders participated in meetings on Capitol Hill with the California congressional delegation to advance CHA’s position on key advocacy priorities.

The meetings included key leaders on health policy, including California Reps. Anna Eshoo (D), Adam Schiff (D), Pete Aguilar (D), Mike Thompson (D), Jimmy Panetta (D), Jimmy Gomez (D), Nanette Barragán (D), and Jay Obernolte (R), and Sens. Laphonza Butler (D) and Alex Padilla (D).

CHA is grateful for the participation of CHA Board of Trustee members Lori Morgan, MD, MBA, President & CEO of Huntington Health, and Laureen Driscoll, chief executive of Providence South Division, California, as well as leaders from Scripps Health, CommonSpirit Health, El Camino Health, Providence, Stanford Health Care, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Rady Children’s Hospital, City of Hope, Tenet Healthcare, and Adventist Health.

CHA continues to encourage Congress to oppose cuts in Medicare site-neutral payments, support the 340B Drug Discount Program, prevent Medicaid disproportionate share hospital cuts, and support and strengthen rural hospitals and the health care workforce.
