HCAI Releases Distressed Hospital Loan Program Targeted Survey

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

The Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) has released a survey for hospitals that are potentially eligible for the Distressed Hospital Loan Program. The loan program will provide interest-free and potentially forgivable cashflow loans to hospitals in financial distress.

The survey is intended to help HCAI develop the program and assess the level of need. It includes 17 questions about hospitals’ financial performance, plans to address financial distress, and interest in applying for a loan through the program. HCAI is developing the program with urgency and has asked if hospitals can respond to the survey by close of business on May 24.

Also, to assist with program development, HCAI is hosting a webinar on May 23 at 2 p.m. (PT). CHA encourages hospitals interested in receiving a loan to engage with HCAI by completing this survey and attending the webinar.

As a reminder, potentially eligible hospitals include not-for-profit and public hospitals that are either independent or part of a system with no more than two hospitals. Hospitals that closed after Jan. 1, 2022, are also potentially eligible.
