The Health Resources and Services Administration has announced that it is ending the federal COVID-19 Uninsured Program because there are insufficient funds to continue.

Effective March 23, the program stopped accepting claims for COVID-19 testing and treatment.  Effective April 6, it will stop accepting claims for COVID-19 vaccinations.

However, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will still accept claims for individuals enrolled in the state’s COVID-19 Uninsured Group Program. As previously shared in CHA News, the state COVID-19 Uninsured Group Program provides temporary no-cost diagnostic testing, testing-related, and treatment for COVID- 19.

Individuals must apply for the COVID-19 Uninsured Group Program through a Medi-Cal qualified provider. To become a qualified provider, providers must submit applications via the COVID-19 Uninsured Group Application Portal. Once enrolled, providers can submit their COVID-19 testing, testing-related, and treatment claims to DHCS for claims processing.
