Emergency Services Legislative Updates — Participant Information

Program originally recorded April 25, 2023.

Recent years have brought significant changes to the landscape of emergency departments (ED). With heightened interest of the legislature as indicated by the number of bills specific to the emergency medical system (EMS), more transitions and complications to the health care delivery system might further weaken an already fragile ED foundation.

Now is the time for renewed attention on hospital EDs and finding productive solutions for proper use of EMS. CHA is hosting a webinar to ensure members are well-informed on proposed bills and understand how collaborations with outside entities like ambulance providers, LEMSAs, and fire departments can aid in delivering effective, safe patient care.

The following assembly bills will be covered in detail during the webinar, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

  • AB40 (Rodriquez – D) – Emergency medical services
  • AB1001 (Haney – D) – Health facilities: behavioral health emergency services
  • AB1164 (Lowenthal – D) – Hospitals: emergency departments: crowding score
