After working with CHA and other stakeholders, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) issued a Dec. 20 clarification on what factors determine if an employee worked “on site” at a qualifying facility and is therefore eligible for a retention payment.

This update, found under the Eligibility FAQs on DHCS’ retention payment web page, provides that an employee is considered to have worked on site of a qualifying facility “… if the employee worked on the site of any location within California that is owned, leased or operated by a qualifying facility and has operations that fall under the license of the qualifying facility or has operations that support patient care, such as human resources, IT, laboratory, and pharmacy services.”

As a reminder, the deadline for registering for the Retention Payment Program is Friday, Dec. 23 (extended from the original deadline of Dec. 21). The deadline for applying for the Retention Payment Program is Dec. 30. A qualifying facility, like a hospital, must register prior to applying for the Retention Payment Program.
