DHCS Sends FY 2023-24 DSH Tentative Eligibility and Opportunity for Data Correction

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

In early August, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) sent hospitals their tentative eligibility status for the state fiscal year 2023-24 disproportionate share hospital (DSH) program.

Eligibility for the program year is based on each hospital’s calculated Medicaid Inpatient Utilization Rate and Low-Income Utilization Rate using calendar year 2021 Medi-Cal paid claims data, a hospital’s 2021 Annual Financial Disclosure Report and Patient Discharge Data reported to the Department of Health Care Access and Information. This data was sent to hospitals along with their tentative eligibility status. Hospitals were given six weeks to review and provide DHCS with any updates or corrections to their data prior to final DSH eligibility calculations being performed.

All data updates and corrections are due to DHCS no later than Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. (PT). No request for data corrections will be considered after the deadline and final DSH eligibility is not subject to appeal.
