DHCS Releases Phase 1 Volume Charts for Hospital Fee Directed Payments

Today, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will release the final Phase 1 (June 1-Dec. 31, 2017) encounter volume charts for the Hospital Fee Program to all health plans and hospitals. The data will be available via the Secure File Transfer Protocol site.

Health plans must upload final Phase 1 encounter volume charts with contract status indicated by March 29.

DHCS will use the final files in the calculations for Phase 1 directed payments, which will eventually be paid to hospitals in November 2019. A timeline is provided below. For more information, see DHCS’ toolkit.

Hospitals and plans work to populate contract status fields (Final Pass) March 19
Plans submit detail file with contract status to DHCS (Final Pass) March 29

DHCS deadline to make the September payment July 1
Health plans receive supplemental capitation payments Sept. 30
Hospitals receive supplemental Medi-Cal managed care payments November
