The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has posted updated information on its website about reimbursement rates for skilled-nursing facility services, including an additional 10% reimbursement applied to per diem rates effective March 1 during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

For the new rate year that began Aug. 1, the COVID-19 increased amounts will remain unchanged. For providers to receive the additional reimbursement, they should begin to bill at the temporarily increased rates established by DHCS.

Upon expiration of the public health emergency or national emergency, whichever occurs first, long-term care reimbursements will revert to their 2020-21 per diem rates. DHCS will post an update on its website to inform providers when the emergency period and the additional reimbursement expire.
