Under the COVID-19 federal public health emergency (PHE), Medi-Cal beneficiaries were guaranteed continuous coverage as long as the PHE was in effect.

Once the PHE ends, full Medi-Cal eligibility redeterminations will need to resume. In preparation for the expiration of the PHE, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is seeking to engage community partners and providers to serve as coverage ambassadors to help provide outreach and education to Medi-Cal beneficiaries on the need to ensure that DHCS and county eligibility offices have their most up-to-date contact information, as well as the importance of responding to eligibility renewal packets to maintain Medi-Cal coverage.

DHCS has launched a coverage ambassador website and will host a pair of webinars for those interested in participating in the program. Interested parties are encouraged to attend one of the two webinars on May 24 at 10 a.m. (PT)  or May 25 at 1 p.m. (PT).
