The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) confirmed with CHA this week that the state fiscal year 2018-19 Hospital Fee Program managed care pass through payments will be paid to Medi-Cal managed care plans with their February 2020 capitations. As a result, DHCS will issue the associated hospital fee invoices to hospitals at the end of this month, with an expected due date to DHCS of Jan. 21, 2020.
As a reminder, the invoices include payment instructions that allow hospitals to use DHCS’ electronic funds transfer website.
It is critical that all hospitals pay their invoices in full and on time. Under state law, DHCS has discretion to assess penalties and interest on hospitals for late payments, and the department recently shared with CHA that it is reviewing its internal policies and procedures for doing so.
