The deadline for members of Congress to sign a bipartisan letter asking Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure to ensure next year’s Medicare inpatient payments to hospitals accurately reflect the cost of providing care has been extended to June 21.

Currently, seven California representatives – Reps. Barragán (CA-44), Costa (CA-21), M. Garcia (CA-27), Mullin (CA-15), Schiff (CA-30), Steel (CA-45) and Valadao (CA-22) – have signed the letter. Sens. Feinstein and Padilla have signed on to the Senate version of the letter along with 32 of their colleagues.

CHA urges hospital leaders to continue to reach out to their U.S. representative ahead of the deadline. Members can check for updates on the signature list on CHA’s federal legislative tracker.
