For post-acute care leaders, case managers, quality and compliance leaders

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued an update to the Nursing Home Compare and the Five Star Quality Rating Program. During the COVID-19 public health emergency, required reporting of certain skilled-nursing facility staffing data and quality measures were waived.

Additionally, certain regular facility inspections were suspended while focused infection control surveys were implemented. CMS now communicates it will resume calculating nursing home health inspection and quality ratings on Jan. 27, 2021, and provides additional information about how measures will be included and reported in the future.

CMS also reports that it has completed the transition to the Care Compare website, which consolidates all provider-specific Compare websites into one consumer-friendly portal.
