CMS to Hold Listening Session on Medicare-Severity DRG Complication and More

CMS will hold a listening session next week on the Medicare-Severity Diagnosis-Related Group (MS-DRG) Complication and Comorbidity/Major Complication and Comorbidity Comprehensive Analysis included in the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2020 inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) final rule. The session takes place at 11 a.m. (PT) on Oct. 8.

The listening session will review the methodology to measure the impact on resource use. The session gives CMS the opportunity for CMS to receive public input on this analysis and to address questions for formulating written comments on the current severity level designations for consideration for FFY 2021 rulemaking. Feedback received during the listening session is not a substitute for formal comments. As described in the FFY 2020 IPPS final rule, MS-DRG requests, comments, and suggestions for FFY 2021, including severity level designations, should be submitted to MSDRGClassificationChange@cms.hhs.gov by Nov. 1.
