The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has extended the Medicare Advantage Value-Based Insurance Design model for calendar years 2025 through 2030.

It will also introduce changes intended to more fully address health-related social needs such as food insecurity, safe living environments, and transportation access of patients, advance health equity, and improve care coordination for patients with serious illnesses. In addition, the model has a Hospice Benefit Component, which helps patients needing end-of-life care experience a seamless transition to hospice care.

More information on the changes to the model under the extension is available online.
