The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has awarded 200 new Medicare-funded graduate medical education residency slots to hospitals serving rural and underserved communities.
The application period for the second round of 200 residency positions opens this month and closes on March 31, 2023.
Authorized by the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, the slots will be phased in at 200 per year over five years for a total of 1,000 slots.
