On Oct. 8, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) notified the Department of Health Care Services of its approval of the Hospital Fee Program’s managed care directed payment program for Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2021.
Even though this structure is consistent with years’ past, the CMS approval does not constitute final approval — that is tied to CMS’ approval of the managed care rates. As with past experience, the CMS approval process for managed care rates could take several years.
