The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) last week received federal approval of a three-year extension of its Cal MediConnect (CMC) program, which provides coordinated services to patients who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.
The department notes the extension — through Dec. 1, 2022 — will allow it more time to focus on quality improvement and program evaluation, and will ensure continuity as changes are made to improve financial sustainability, quality of care, and beneficiary experience. Additionally, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and DHCS are moving forward with other program improvements based on a recent stakeholder engagement process and in partnership with the CMC health plans. CHA previously submitted comments to DHCS on the program extension. More information about Cal Mediconnect is available at http://calduals.org/.
