CHA Urges California Congressional Delegation to Assist with Securing FEMA Funding

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

On Aug. 2, CHA sent a letter to the California congressional delegation urging members to assist in securing reimbursement for hospitals’ pandemic expenses from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In the letter, CHA urges the delegation to ask FEMA to expedite the processing and payment of outstanding eligible expenses for the costs California’s hospitals have incurred caring for the state’s COVID-19 patients. Many of the outstanding unreimbursed expenses date to the early days of the pandemic.

CHA encourages members struggling to secure funds to reference this letter and follow up directly with their U.S. representative with specific details. Find your representative’s contact information in this online directory.

In addition to working with the California congressional delegation, CHA is also working with FEMA to expedite payment to hospitals and develop an appropriate framework that both ensures public assistance benefits aren’t duplicated and that hospitals are reimbursed appropriately for the eligible expenses they incurred during the public health emergency.
