CHA to Host Webinar about Changes to Medi-Cal Coverage for Dually Enrolled People

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

A CHA webinar on Dec. 14 will answer questions about changes to Medi-Cal coverage for people enrolled in both Medi-Cal and Medicare.

California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal is standardizing Medi-Cal coverage for people who use both programs, with changes for many Californians starting next year.

Starting Jan. 1, 2023, those enrolled in Medicare and Medi-Cal — and who currently receive their Medi-Cal benefits through traditional fee-for-service — will have their Medi-Cal benefits transitioned to Medi-Cal managed care statewide.

The webinar will feature the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), which will present on what this transition means and how it will and won’t affect Medi-Cal and Medicare providers that serve dual-eligible people.  DHCS will also be available for questions.

Topics covered will include:

  • Dual-eligible Medi-Cal managed care transition timeline
  • Medi-Cal managed care interaction with Medicare coverage options
  • Medi-Cal managed care plan responsibilities and impact on providers
