A new report from Covered California reflects its recent efforts to assess the performance of qualified health plans under current contract terms in preparation for updating standards and requirements in the fall.

Covered California engaged Health Management Associates and PricewaterhouseCoopers for expert consulting services to ensure its efforts are informed by a clear picture of potential impacts, measures, data, and benchmarks for evaluating performance and alignment with the strategies of major national and California purchasers.

A separate complementary report, Purchaser Strategies for Improving Quality of Care and Delivery System Reform, reflects PricewaterhouseCoopers’ review of purchaser strategies that will guide Covered California’s efforts to align its contractual requirements with other purchasers. Covered California will use this material as it continues its stakeholder engagement with qualified health plans and providers — including CHA, consumer advocates, and the broader public — to help inform which efforts it should continue, discontinue, or revise for plan years 2021-23.

More information is available on the Covered California website.
