2017-19 Hospital Fee Invoices Due March 13

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

Last week, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) sent hospitals invoices covering the first 18 months of managed care cycles for the 2017-19 Hospital Fee Program. Fees are due to DHCS March 13.

Medi-Cal managed care plans will receive retroactive capitation adjustments at the end of March. CHA will distribute hospital-specific payment schedules, by Medi-Cal managed care plan, by the end of April; hospitals should expect to receive the supplemental payments in early May.

The invoice includes fees for two periods:

  • MC 1 PT, which covers Jan. 1 through June 30, 2017
  • MC 2a PT, which covers July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018

As a reminder, the invoices included new payment instructions that allow hospitals to utilize DHCS’ electronic funds transfer website. It is critical that all hospitals pay their invoices in full and on time.

Any hospital that does not pay its invoice will be placed on withhold until DHCS collects the entire balance due. Withholds will first be applied to future payments due to the hospital from the Hospital Fee Program. Weekly Medi-Cal claims payments will be withheld if a delinquent balance remains. All withheld funds are held in a reserve account that will eventually be used to draw down the remaining federal funds available.
