What’s happening: As the Legislature heads into its last month of session, CHA has issued alerts on two priority issues: the 2030 seismic compliance deadline and access to care in rural areas, specifically related to critical access hospitals.
What else to know: More information about CHA’s work on these and other priority issues is available on the CHA website.
CHA’s alerts urge action on two fronts:
- In anticipation of a floor vote on Senate Bill (SB) 1432 (Caballero, D-Merced) — CHA’s sponsored bill to address the 2030 seismic compliance deadline — hospitals should write or call assemblymembers and urge them to vote “yes” on the bill. Resources, including talking points and template letters, are available on the CHA website.
- CHA also urges critical access hospitals to send the Assembly Appropriations Committee letters of support for SB 1423 (Dahle, R-Bieber), which would establish a critical access hospital (CAH) technical advisory group at the Department of Health Care Services to evaluate and make recommendations on the financial stability of CAHs. A template letter is available on the CHA website.
