CHA has issued a two-part summary, prepared by Health Policy Alternatives, on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed rule updating the Medicare physician fee schedule, quality payment program, and other Medicare Part B payment policies for calendar year 2020. Comments on the proposed rule are due Sept. 27.
Part I of the summary details payment policies and updates under the physician fee schedule, including changes to CMS’ evaluation and management services payment rates; proposed coding and payment for a bundled episode of care for management and counseling for opioid use disorder; updates to payment for case management and therapy services; and changes to the Medicare Shared Savings Program.
Part II details proposals related to the physician quality payment program, including the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System and incentives for participation in alternative payment models.
