CHA DataSuite Releases Fourth Quarter 2018 Impact Analyses

Includes Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction and Value-Based Purchasing programs

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

CHA DataSuite has issued hospital-specific analyses showing the estimated impact of the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2020 Medicare inpatient Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) Reduction Program as well as the hospital Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program, based on publicly available data and program rules established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The reports evaluate hospital performance under the federal fiscal year 2020 program using the 4th quarter 2018 data updates on Hospital Compare. The analyses include estimates and details on how HAC program measures and domain scores are calculated, and how payment penalties are determined and applied.

The FFY 2020 program analysis does not use the actual data CMS will use to calculate final VBP program scores and Medicare inpatient payment redistributions. Those data will not be publicly available until the official program is implemented.

More information is available in the attached analysis descriptions.
