What’s happening: CHA DataSuite issued a hospital-specific analysis of the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2025 Medicare inpatient psychiatric facility (IPF) prospective payment system.
What else to know: The analysis is intended to show hospitals how Medicare fee-for-service payments would change from FFY 2024 to FFY 2025 based on the policies set forth in the proposed rule.
IPF proposed rule changes modeled in this analysis include:
- Electroconvulsive therapy update
- Market basket update
- Affordable Care Act-mandated market basket adjustment
- Wage index budget neutrality
- Refinement standardization factor
- Wage index and labor share
- Change in provider and facility-level adjustments
Comments on the proposed rule were due to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) by June 5. The analysis was delayed due to CMS’ late release of a requested limited data set which was needed to complete the analysis and our need to have correspondence with CMS to ensure that our data sources and interpretation were in line with theirs.
