What’s happening: CHA DataSuite has issued a hospital-specific analysis on quality program measure trends for the third quarter of 2024.
What else to know: The analysis provides hospitals a comparative review of the quality data collected over time by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and published on Care Compare.
The measures updated in this release include Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey data and overall star ratings, and measures are divided into six categories: HCAHPS star ratings, safety, person and community engagement, outcomes, readmissions, and efficiency.
The measures analyzed represent those included in the Medicare quality programs, including the:
- Value-Based Purchasing program
- Readmissions Reduction program
- Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction program
- Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM)
CHA has added into the analysis the measures currently available on Care Compare that were evaluated under TEAM and removed measures that were evaluated under the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model, which concludes at the end of this month.
Also included in the analysis are measures CMS has adopted for use in at least one of the four quality programs for the current program year and beyond, though some measures do not apply to all program years. To focus on measures relevant to the quality program, this analysis does not include measures that CMS has removed from the current program year.
