The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued All Facilities letter (AFL) 21-26 for providers, including skilled-nursing facilities, on the requirement to report abuse, neglect, exploitation, and/or mistreatment of residents, particularly elders or dependent adults.
The AFL outlines the mandated time frames and procedures for reporting to local law enforcement, the long-term care ombudsman, and the CDPH district office.
