The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued All Facilities Letter (AFL) 20-84, which informs skilled-nursing facilities about infection prevention recommendations and incorporation into the Quality and Accountability Supplemental Payment Program.

The AFL also provides information on the provisions of Assembly Bill 2644, which directs skilled-nursing facilities — effective Jan. 1, 2021 — to have a full-time dedicated infection preventionist and meet other requirements for infection prevention and control planning and staff training.
