The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has announced changes to its health care facility application review process. For applications received Jan. 1 or later, the CDPH Center for Health Care Quality’s (CHCQ) Centralized Applications Branch will issue a single correction letter for application packets deemed incomplete or incorrect, and will not review those packets unless corrections have been submitted within the time frame identified in the correction letter.
According to CDPH, reducing the number of correction letters will streamline the application review process and reduce application processing times.
To assist providers in submitting complete and correct application packets, CHCQ has launched a website with application packets that contain the licensing forms for each facility type, along with instructions, checklists, example forms, and video tutorials. Additional information is available in All Facilities Letter 20-02; questions can be directed to the Centralized Applications Branch by phone at (916) 552-8632 or by email at [email protected]
As a reminder, CDPH has launched an online application portal for general acute care hospitals and acute psychiatric hospitals, as required by CHA’s sponsored legislation, Assembly Bill 2798 (Maienschein, 2018). The portal allows these providers to electronically submit initial, change of ownership, and report of change applications, as well as to validate their facility information and view their application status.
