CHA and its Regional Associations provide member hospitals and health systems with representation and advocacy in the legislative and regulatory arenas. This happens at the local, state, and federal levels. At the federal level, CHA has a full-time presence in Washington, D.C. This allows CHA to provide input on developing federal legislation and regulatory proposals and help shape national positions on issues that directly impact hospitals. In California, CHA lobbies the Legislature on behalf of its members and works closely with state agency officials, regulatory representatives, and the administration. Those federal and state advocacy efforts are supported at the local level by the Regional Associations — Hospital Council of Northern & Central California, Hospital Association of Southern California, and Hospital Association of San Diego & Imperial Counties. Hosting legislators and meeting with local officials and hospital leadership are essential elements of developing and maintaining a network for legislative and regulatory action.
