AB 669 would prohibit health plans, starting in 2027, from concurrent or retrospective review of medical necessity of in-network services and benefits for the first 28 days of residential, inpatient, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient therapy for substance use treatment. The bill specifies a concurrent or retrospective review with an appeal process for intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization services for substance use disorder treatment that lasts longer than 28 days.
