CDPH Corrects State Cost-Sharing References in Urgent Staffing Shortage AFL

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

On Sept. 7, CDPH released AFL 20-46.3 on urgent staffing shortages. The only substantive update to this AFL is that the state has discontinued its cost sharing of staffing resources through the state staffing contract. The state previously announced in late spring 2021 that it would discontinue that cost-sharing program, and this AFL removes references to it.

This AFL continues to require facilities, including hospitals, to report an urgent staffing shortage to their CDPH District Office. Specifically, facilities are required to report — as soon as practical within 24 hours — when they experience a sudden spike in staff absenteeism or attrition that creates an urgent staffing shortage. This requirement has been in place since spring 2020.
